The Winchester City Council met on September 10th for its regular meeting. During old business, the council took up the proposed ordinance dealing with permitting the ownership of chickens inside city limits. The ordinance was drafted by the city attorney with several conditions that were left up to the Council to decide, such as number of birds allowed. The Council worked through these conditions and then tabled the ordinance until the next meeting so that it could be numbered and receive any necessary legal review. The ordinance should be ready for the council to vote on at the October 8th regular meeting, should the council wish to do so. As always, all citizens are welcome to share their input on matters relating to city business at any meeting of the council. The ordinance is available in .pdf form with proposed language at the link below.
